Hey, I’m Amber Melody
I’m a blogger and an e-commerce business owner. From banking, Food Truck Owner, to running a six figure e-commerce business. I’ve experienced many business highs and lows and realized there is SO much opportunity to be found online.
I married young, the year Pinterest came out, I guess that’s a good thing, we saved a lot of money (lol). We were BROKE, but had big dreams. We spent $500 on wedding pictures because that is all we could afford. We didn’t take a honeymoon and went right back to work. Worried, we would upset our new bosses, since we both had recently began a new job. We promised each other that we weren’t going to live our lives based on someone else’s schedule. We wanted freedom to decide the future for ourselves, on our own timeline.
Corporate America was NOT for us. Timed-breaks, clocking out to use the restroom, I knew there had to be a better way.
-Married 2011
-Entered Corporate America
-Became interested in e-commerce (first via Craigslist & Ebay
A few years later, we opened a Food Truck called, East Coast Toast with our brother & sister-in-law. It was a lot of fun, we sold toast, yup avocado toast! Then, the pandemic hit and lets just say food trucks were not essential.
I‘ve always been obsessed with garage sales and antiques. I started selling antiques on Etsy and anything with a barcode on Amazon. I was certain we were going to open an antique shop and live in a tiny home (hey, never say never).
On June 14th, Flag Day, I bought the business and moved the store onto Shopify and quickly fell in-love with the platform. I started by selling the flags out of my garage. (Yes, my husband is a good sport and super supportive to all of my crazy ideas.) We quickly realized we needed to move to a warehouse and expand the business.
I continued to sell items on Etsy and Amazon, but knew I really wanted to focus on a brand that I could grow.
Working in Shopify opened up my eyes to all of the opportunities there are. You can focus on your own brand and truly scale your own business, rather than relying on other platforms that you don’t own (think Instagram the algorithm, Tik-Tok (will we wake up one day to it being banned or Amazon).
